Every Morning Affirmation: "I Am Supreme!"
It was my first time at the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The previous day I had been part of a beautiful group of people from all over the world on a semi-inflatable rubber duck raft. We were white water rafting the Zambezi River, which forms the Vic Falls stretching from Zimbabwe to Zambia. This day, we were touring the land, a private sanctuary to protect the waterfall. I guess my curiosity to see the bottom of the falls draw me near the edge. And as I got closer, the tiny drops from the splashes of the water as it hit the ground a hundred meters below, hit me on my face. It was as though it was drizzling, and the sound of the falls gave a certain aura to the place. A tranquil feeling overcame me and I took off my hat to feel the "drizzle" on my entire head as my harms opened wide to let the aura hug me. Suddenly a thought came to my mind. 'I AM SUPREME!"
Actually, it sounded more of a voice than a thought. The next few days I'd wake up with this thought in my mind. After I left the Vic Falls I became obsessed with this thought and started searching its meaning. Of course, I had an idea of what supreme meant. But to me, referring myself as "supreme" brought back memories of what is usually called "white supremacy, " so, I started thinking about this even deeper. When I looked up the word "supreme" in the dictionary this is what I found: highest ranking, highest, leading, chief, head, top, foremost, principal, superior, first, cardinal, prime, sovereign; directing, governing; greatest, dominant, predominant, pre-eminent, overriding and prevailing. Oh wow! How can this be a bad thing?
When I went deeper I realised that it was the imperialists who came up with the term "white supremacy" and perpetuated it through the media. They were purposely running away from the term racist, which means racial bigot, racialist, xenophobe, chauvinist and anti Semite, according to my dictionary. Now, these adjectives sound more appropriate for white supremacists, or any supremacist really. It's a matter of using your intelligence. If you don't use your intelligence you'll feel better than other people and the opposite is true.
So, why did I get the thought that I was supreme on that day at the Vic Falls? I don't know exactly. But I do know this: no matter how grande the Victoria Falls is, or any water falls in the world, no matter how big the Zambezi River is, or any river, I AM DOMINANT OVER IT! I thought about this for many days before realising how true that statement was. In fact, from that day of realisation onward, it became my every morning affirmation to this day. This is why I am supreme: Nothing in nature is more intelligent than me (a human being). My mind has the ability to make sense out of things, directing my next step of action. Nothing else is like that, not any mountain, or river, or animal can do that better than me.
Previously, after drinking all night I'd wake up with a severe headache the next day and feeling low due to hang-over. I'd be filled with rage every time someone drove past me and suddenly slow down right ahead of me, forcing me to lower my speed. I was highly irritable if I didn't smoke for too long, or if someone did something I considered stupid. Basically, my patience level was1 out o 10, 10 being the highest. But all this and other bad habits changed after I realised how much sovereign I was.
This realisation automatically directed me to think better, deliberately. It has stopped me from making silly decisions whose results would have destroyed me in the long run. It has also guided me to make better financial decisions, quit bad habits such as smoking and doing drugs, quit drinking all night out with friends, neglecting my wife and kids. Not only were these habits bad for my health, they also took a chunk of my money because I was the kind of guy who'd buy drinks for friends and people I thought were friends at the local pub. There are people who literally kept way their cigarettes as soon as they saw me because they knew I was going to buy them cigarettes, or share mine with them. The funny thing is that although I had noticed this, I kept doing it because I thought I was helping these people. But after I found out that I was supreme and really didn't have to please anyone, I stopped.
You too can start making this affirmation each morning when you wake up. Not only will it boost your self-esteem, but it'll help you get things done on time. You'll never miss an appointment again because you'll take things serious in your life. You won't waste time in fruitless, energy-draining friendships and relationships because you'll recognize your high-ranking status. Most importantly, you will discard mundane distractions in life that have been taking away your happiness. It may be that you'll even cure yourself from diseases such as anxiety and depression. From now onwards you'll live life in gratitude and servitude to humanity. In the process, all your material desires will slowly come to you because you'll be ready to handle them for the benefit of not just your family, but all of humanity as well. Go ahead and use your intelligence!
I AM SUPREME! YOU ARE SUPREME TOO!
